Chris West trained as an engineer, and then as a zoologist. He has worked for the British Antarctic Survey, for Jersey and Bristol Zoos, for a Research Council and for the UK Climate Impacts Programme at Oxford University. He is currently a climate change adaptation specialist at the Environment Agency. He is interested in the history of icebreakers; he is an inexpert birdwatcher and fond of wasps.
